Courage Through Love

We walk in obscurity
Testing each new stone
Teetering on hope
Swaying through fear

Rancor bubbles below
A viscous hurdle
Threatening to surge
And bind us fast

To baleful minds
And bankrupt hearts
To pollute our will
And deflate courage

Yet through the struggle
One thought remains clear
A fierce light, undimmed
Rings truer now than ever

A shield against the dark
As Maya Angelou once told
The wisdom of the departed
Requires us to be bold

“In the flush of love’s light
We dare be brave
And suddenly we see
That love costs all we are
And will ever be
Yet it is only love
Which sets us free

Inspiration and final stanza credit to Maya Angelou’s “Touched by an Angel”

      1. I’m out in the mountains on every off day! I’m headed for either one hike about 7600 in elevation to a railroad tunnel to nowhere or two shorter with a river view. I have redwoods and ponderosa pines in the trailer park. Not the same but blue skies versus grey rainy ones. 😀 I’m trying to keep up. The moving things wiped out two months for me.

      2. That sounds beautiful – I’m glad you’re enjoying your new home! Where I grew up we had tons of redwood, ponderosa, cedar, etc. I miss them. Though admittedly down here in the South it’s beautiful too with the sheer number of different leafy trees.
